SPARTANS WIN BLUE TEAM CUP WITH WIN OVER UBC OKANAGAN

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western’s men’s volleyball team captured the Blue Team Cup with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) win over UBC Okanagan Saturday at the Langley Events Centre. 

With wins over UBC (3-1) and Mount Royal (3-0) already in the bag, the Spartans took care of business Saturday to win their annual preseason tournament with a victory over the Heat.

“Tonight, we were steady in most phases. We talked about what makes good teams is being good after good every day and good after good in every phase. We were good after good in almost everything except our reception. I thought there were some moments when we broke, but UBCO is a really tough serving team and they’re going to be dangerous from the baseline this year. We didn’t pass well against a good serving team, so that’s something we’ll have to improve. I don’t know if our ball-touch quality, especially first contact, was great today. When we’re organized and have time, we’re really dangerous offensively, especially when Anselm (Rein, Erfurt, Germany) is playing the way he’s playing right now.”

NEXT UP
TWU will compete in the WolfPack Invitational Oct. 10-12 with games against Fraser Valley (Oct. 10), Thompson Rivers (Oct. 11) and Royal Military College (Oct. 12). The Spartans open their regular season Oct. 18-19 when they travel to Edmonton to play MacEwan.
