Hudson, Hill, John earn silver at NORCECA Men’s U21 Continental Championship

Nogales, Mexico – The Mount Royal Cougars had three Canadians bring home silver from the NORCECA Men’s U21 Continental Championship after the United States won the gold-medal match 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 27-25) on Sunday. Cody Hudson, Grant Hill and Ryan John are all members of the U21 team.

This is the fourth gold medal for the United States in the history of the event, for an overall of 11 medals (two silvers, five bronzes). For Canada, this is the fifth silver medal – also winning two golds and three bronze medals from past tournaments.

Last night, United States led in attack points (44-29) and also finished with a comfortable lead in blocks (12-9). Both teams scored one ace. United States gave away 25 points from errors compared to Canada’s 20.

Canada also picked up several individual awards: Piers De Greeff was the second best spiker, Cody Hudson the second best blocker, Kale Fisher the best setter and libero Quintin Greenidge was named the best receiver.
