For the second straight season, the Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team has a pair of all-stars to brag about.
Lakers outside hitters Paige Owen and Oceane Raymond-Leduc were both awarded for their impressive season, with Owen being named an OUA First Team All-Star, while Raymond-Leduc earned a OUA Second Team All-Star nod.
The two were dominant for the Lakers this year, leading the team offensively and both ranking in the top 10 of key offensive categories in the OUA.
Both brought home hardware last season as well.
Thanks to their strong campaigns, the two outsides helped the Lakers reach the OUA Playoffs for the second time in the past three seasons.
Paige Owen – First Team All-Star
The Lakers outstanding outside hitter had a tremendous year, leading the team offensively and ranking near the top of the OUA on a number of offensive categories.
Owen finished fourth in the league with 250 kills, third in points with 292 and fifth in points pet set, averaging 4.2.
She led the team in each of those categories, as well, helping the Lakers to a strong season.
The Cambridge, ON product had 13 matches where she hit double digits in kills, three where she recorded over 20 and a season-high 25 against TMU in January.
She also earned her 400th kill during the year in just her second season.
Oceane Raymond-Leduc – Second Team All-Star
Following up an extremely decorated first year, Raymond-Leduc put together an impressive campaign for the Lakers.
She sat eighth in the league with 196 kills, sixth in points with 236.5 and tied for eighth in points per set with 3.4.
Her offensive numbers sit second on the team behind fellow all-star and outside hitter, Owen.
The Ottawa, ON native hit her way to double digit kills nine times, with her season-high coming against Western when she powered her way to 15 kills.
She eclipsed the 400 kills mark for her career in under 40 matches.
