LANGLEY, British Columbia– Trinity Western’s Mikayla McBain (Burlington, Ont.) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after leading the Spartans to a split with the Calgary Dinos this past weekend in Calgary, Alta. McBain finished the weekend with 3.44 digs per set while finishing the weekend with 69 percent in-system passing.
On Friday night the third-year libero finished the night with 15 digs and seven set assists in the Spartans’ 3-2 loss to the Calgary Dinos Friday night in Calgary, Alta.
In Saturday’s game the general studies student help to lead the Spartans to a 3-1 win finishing with 16 digs and four set assists.
McBain finished the season in sixth place in total digs with 264, and ninth in digs/set with 2.81.
The weekend split moves the Spartans into fourth place in the Canada West final conference standings. TWU will now host the fifth-place Alberta Pandas in a best-of-three series beginning Thursday, February 22 at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. Game times are set for 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday with Saturday’s game time to be determined. All games can be seen on Canada West TV.
