Men’s basketball guard Shae Linton-Brown, women’s hockey guard Alaina McMillan and women’s volleyball left side hitter Emilia Mikanovich have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman’s Little New York Halifax, for the week ending January 7, 2024.

Shae Linton-Brown, a fifth year guard from Toronto, ON, is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 1-7, 2024.
Over a pair of wins over the Dalhousie Tigers, Linton-Brown averaged 17.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.
In Friday night’s 91-82 win, Linton-Brown recorded a 13 point, 10 rebound double-double, adding three assists and two steals and was named Player of the Game.
In Saturday night’s 83-78 win, Linton-Brown recorded a 21 point, 11 rebound double-double, adding four assists and three steals, and once again was named Player of the Game.
For the season, Linton-Brown is averaging 12.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

Alaina McMillan, a fifth year guard from Brantford, ON, is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 1-7, 2024.
Over a pair of wins over the Dalhousie Tigers, McMillan averaged 22.0 points, on 50% FG shooting, 45% 3FG shooting and 100% FT shooting, along with 2.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
In Friday night’s 92-63 win, McMillan scored a team-high 17 points, including five three-pointers, and added five assists, three rebounds, three steals and a block, and was named Player of the Game.
In Saturday night’s 84-73 win, McMillan scored a game-high 27 points, adding five assists, two steals, one rebound and one block, and once again was named Player of the Game.
For the season McMillan is among the conference leaders in scoring (14.2 points per game, 9th), assists (4.3 assists per game, 2nd), steals (1.8 steals per game, 5th), free-throw percentage (95.2%, 2nd) and three-point percentage (35.8%, 8th).
Emilia Mikanovich / Women’s Volleyball / Minsk, Belarus / 2nd year / Science
Emilia Mikanovich, a second year left side hitter from Minsk, Belarus, is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 1-7, 2024.
Over a pair of wins over the UNB REDS, Mikanovich averaged 16 kills, 11 digs, two blocks and one assist per match.
In Saturday night’s four-set win, Mikanovich led the Huskies with 18 points, including 17 kills, 13 digs, one block and one assist, and was named Player of the Game.
In Sunday afternoon’s straight-set win, Mikanovich once again led the Huskies with 17 points, including 15 kills, nine digs, three blocks and one assist.
For the season, Mikanovich leads the AUS with 3.06 kills per set, and ranks second with 3.5 points per set.
