On Tuesday morning, U SPORTS announced their latest top 10 rankings and three Mount Royal teams earned national recognition for their success.
Cougars women’s hockey moved up one spot in the latest edition of the U SPORTS Top 10, reaching second overall and surpassing Canada West rivals UBC Thunderbirds. Mount Royal improved to 11-3-0 after claiming victory in both games against MacEwan during the weekend. MRU’s men’s hockey team slotted into the national rankings for the sixth straight week, earning the tenth spot overall. The team split their weekend home-and-home with the MacEwan Griffins, first suffering a 3-2 defeat on the road before bouncing back the following night with an emphatic 5-1 win. Mount Royal’s men’s volleyball team claimed eighth overall in the U SPORTS rankings this week. The impressive Cougars squad split their mini-series against the Manitoba Bisons during the week, winning 3-0 on Friday but falling 3-1 on Saturday. The 4-4 MRU team heads across town to the Jack Simpson Gym this weekend for a midseason Crowchild Classic against the University of Calgary Dinos.
