WINDSOR, Ont. – The Marauders put on an impressive show tonight in their game against the Windsor Lancers, winning in three sets. The Lancers were hoping to give their fans a win for their season home-opener, but McMaster’s powerful attacks were too much for them to handle.
The beginning of the game saw McMaster dominate. They took the first set with ease, winning 25-16. Windsor stepped up in the second set and came close to stringing together a comeback run, but were ultimately denied by the resilient Marauders. Outside hitters Emma McKinnon and Sullie Sundara bombarded the Lancers with plenty of powerful serves. The second set ended 25-23.
Windsor started off the third set with a burst of energy, taking a lead early on. Their hustle on defense, combined with a couple of attacking errors by the Marauders, helped them stay in the game. The Marauders, however, got their act together and put up an impressive scoring run to end the set 25-18.
The women are now undefeated in the season. Sullie Sundara gave an outstanding performance, recording 14 kills and 6 aces. First year middle Jenna Woock, who played her debut game today, made her presence felt with her 9 kills. This fourth straight win places the Marauders atop the OUA table alongside Brock. Their job for the weekend isn’t done yet, though, as they have a rematch against the Windsor Lancers tomorrow night, where they hope to repeat today’s result.
