Tremblay, Moore lead potent offense to sweep of TRU 3-0

EDMONTON – Fifth-year Lauryn Tremblay continued her great weekend with a game-high 12 kills to help lead the Alberta Pandas to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-23) victory over the TRU Wolfpack Saturday evening at the Saville Centre.

Tremblay was aided in the winning effort by second-year middle Allie Moore who had eight kills and three total blocks to help Alberta to an impressive .273 to .088  attacking percentage advantage. The Wolfpack were paced by Faith Christensen who had a team-high 11 kills.

The Canada West preseason fourth-ranked Pandas start the year at 2-0 with the sweep, while the 10th-ranked Wolfpack return home looking to rebound from a winless start in Edmonton.

The first set was an exciting back-and-forth affair for the two squads. We saw 6 tie scores, and a ferocious Alberta comeback that led to a first set 25-23 win. Tremblay had a set-high seven kills.

The second set was all Pandas, as they were able to neutralize a WolfPack attack that had found its groove in the opening set. They went on to win 25-12 with rookie Ronnie Dickson pacing the squad with four kills in the frame.

The last set was as close as the first, as the teams jockeyed for momentum in a tight set. Second-year Moore would ultimately lead the Pandas to a 25-23 set and match win with her set-high five kills.

The Pandas travel to Brandon for the first time since 2020 for a two-game set against the Bobcats next weekend, while the WolfPack return home for a series against the Calgary Dinos.
