Two University of Toronto Varsity Blues were recognized as Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced major award winners and all-stars on Tuesday morning.
Second-year outside hitter Julia Murmann earned OUA first team all-star honours for the second straight season. The Toronto native led the Blues and ranked seventh in the province, averaging 3.6 points per set over 18 matches.
Murmann, who represented Canada in Volleyball Nations League play and the world championships in 2022, topped the Blues with 3.18 kills per set, while also ranking second on the squad and sixth in the OUA with 3.45 digs per set.
She notched a season-high 25.5 points at Windsor on Jan. 20, while also recording a season-high 21 kills twice at Windsor on Jan. 20-21 this season.
First-year outside hitter Olivia Zhu was named a member of the OUA all-rookie team. The engineering major from Oakville, Ont., ranked third on the Blues in both kills (1.6) and points (1.99) per set, as well as total blocks (20). She also averaged 2.21 digs per set over 20 matches this season.
