McMaster men’s volleyball on the road this week for games against Western and York

HAMILTON, Ont. –  The undefeated Marauders hit the road this week as they prepare to take on the Western Mustangs on Friday night, and the York Lions on Saturday night.

McMaster and Western are familiar foes, having battled twice during the 2021-22 regular season. McMaster took both matches, dropping the Mustangs in three sets in the first game, and then beating them again, three sets to one in their second meet-up. These teams faced each other most recently this past November. The Marauders came out on top, taking the match in four sets. 

The Mustangs are coming off of back to back losses against the Queen’s Gaels, in a game that went all 5 sets (19-25, 25-20, 30-28, 19-25, 15-17) Friday, and a four set game on Saturday (25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 23-25).

After taking on the Western Mustangs in London, the Marauders then travel to Toronto to take on the York Lions.

McMaster and York previously faced each other during the 2019-20 regular season. The Marauders dropped the Lions in three very quick sets. The Lions and the Marauders most recently faced off in January on this year. McMaster beat York in four sets (25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-13). 

The York Lions are currently 12-5. York took Friday night’s match against Trent University in four sets, dropping Trent 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 25-10. York then went on to down the Guelph Gryphons in quick 3 sets on Saturday (25-21, 30-28, 25-17).

The Marauders made quick work of the RMC Paladins in back-to-back games this weekend. McMaster dropped the Paladins in three quick sets both Friday (25-16, 25-8, 25-6) and Saturday (25-15, 25-21, 25-18) night.  

McMaster looks to continue their winning momentum and add to their 16 game win streak this upcoming week.
