Home Cooking! Warriors sweep Paladins in back-to-back home contests

Women’s volleyball took care of business with a pair of convincing home wins over the RMC Paladins in their first home action of 2023. The Warriors have now won five straight overall and improve to an impressive 11-2 record on the season.

On Friday night, Waterloo made short work of the Paladins with set scores of 25-10, 25-7, 25-5. Karen Fan (Oakville, ON/) returned to action following an injury and was stellar with six kills and three blocks. Avery Isaacs (Calgary, AB/) was also on her game with 7.5 points while Jennifer Zhu (Oakville, ON/) had six points and Sydney Degraauw (Pickering, ON/) had five. Sarah Hewer (Whitby, ON/) and Claire Gagne (Cambridge, ON/) shared the setting duties with 14 and 12 assists respectively.

On Saturday afternoon, Waterloo again won in under an hour posting set scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25-18. Sarah Glynn (Fredericton, NB) led all players with 14.5 points on 12 kills, one ace and three blocks. Avery Kelly (Calgary AB/) had 8.5 points while Isaacs had seven and Leah Van Zeumeren (Brampton, ON/) had six. Hewer finished with 17 assists and Gagne had 12 in the win.

Next up for the black and gold is a home match with the 9-2 McMaster Marauders on Saturday at the PAC. Game time is 6pm and the match can be seen live on OUA.tv.
