Dinos carry win streak into the Crowchild Classic

CALGARY – After a successful weekend on the road, the University of Calgary Dinos women’s volleyball team (4-8) returns to their home gym this Sunday, following a road game against the Mount Royal University Cougars (9-3) on Saturday evening.

The home-and-home starts at Kenyon Court at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, followed by a game scheduled in the Jack Simpson Gym at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13.

BUILDING MOMENTUM
The Dinos were able to get back in the win column last weekend as they secured a sweep over the MacEwan Griffins. Calgary will look to build off of that success heading into this weekend’s slate of games against their local rival.

VETERAN PRESENCE
With a roster consisting of 11 first-years and five second-years, fourth-year outside hitter Kenzie Vaandering has been pivotal in moulding the young group around her into a team ready to host the 2022 U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championship at the end of March. Vaandering leads the Dinos in kills with 95 and has also recorded 68 digs and nine service aces this season.

EXTENDING PLAYS
First-year libero Michela Alongi has moved up the ranks on the Canada West leaderboard as she sits fourth in digs with 155 and fourth in digs per set with 3.88. Alongi has been a key piece in keeping sets alive for the Dinos and consistently sacrifices her body on the floor to extend sets.
