CALGARY, ALTA. – The Cougars return to the court again in late October to start off the 2024-25 season. The first games of Mount Royal Volleyball’s 2024-25 season begins with both the Men’s and Women’s teams taking on the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades at home on October 25th, and 26th. They will also finish off the regular season at home against Alberta on February 14th, and 15th.
After falling to Winnipeg in the quarterfinals of the playoffs the Men’s Volleyball team will look a whole lot different this year. Seven graduating seniors leaving the team have opened up space for last year’s rookies to come in and make an impact. Next year Head Coach Shawn Sky will field the youngest lineup in Canada West but they have a lot of talent and now is their time to shine.
After missing the Canada West Playoffs last season, the Women’s Volleyball team will lose two key players but gain a new Head Coach. Rhonda Schmuland will come in to coach the Cougars in her first season as U SPORTS Head Coach and expects greatness from her athletes. With new leadership, they look to return to the playoffs.
