GUELPH, Ont. – The Gryphons women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of home matches against the reigning OUA champion, Brock Badgers, with Brock leaving Guelph with wins on Friday (Nov. 15) and Saturday (Nov. 16).

On Friday night at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons were able to take the opening set off the defending champs, with winning 25-19 in the opening set. Leading the way for the Gryphons on Friday night was rookie outside hitter, Sloane Fortin. The sociology major from Burlington, Ontario finished the game with a team-high 21.5 points, but the Badgers would take control of the match the rest of the way, winning 3-1 with set scores of 19-25, 26-11, 25-21 & 25-10.

On Saturday night (Nov. 16), the Gryphons and Badgers squared off for the second night in a row, with Brock this time winning in straight sets (25-18, 25-15 & 25-16) to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Gryphons (0-8) will look for their first win of the 2024-25 season on November 22 and 23 when they welcome the RMC Paladins into town for a pair of games. The home matchups with RMC will mark Guelph’s final home games of the calendar year, with the next OUA women’s volleyball action at the GGAC taking place on January 17, 2025 versus Queen’s.
