The Mariners and Royals meet for the first of four matches this season on Friday night at Douglas. Last weekend the Mariners scored a sweep of the COTR Avalanche winning in five and four sets respectively. They showed great character early on coming back in their first match from being down 2-1 to win in five.
The Royals split last weekend at CBC winning and losing in four sets. These matches with the Mariners this weekend are the Royals’ home opener and the first chance the Douglas student base gets a chance to see their club.
CBC Bearcats @ Capilano Blues – Friday October 27, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE
The Blues open their schedule following a bye last weekend. They will play at home and welcome the Bearcats who are on the road for the first time this season. It’s also a new era at Capilano under the watchful eye of new head coach John Swanson who last coached the COTR Avalanche guiding them to their only PACWEST gold medal.
Their roster features some good veteran leadership led by fifth year senior Vanesa Gatto and fourth year student athlete Maya Jovic.
The Bearcats are coming off a split last weekend at home with the Douglas Royals. The fell in the first match in four-sets, then came back to win in four the next night using extra points along the way winning the last two sets 26-24 and 27-25.
