Douglas Royals @ VIU Mariners – Friday January 19, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE

A pair of teams that are neck and neck in the standings meet this weekend on the Island.

The top seeded Mariners had a bye last weekend and haven’t played a match since November 25th.  They open their second semester schedule when they host the Royals.  Heading into the holiday break they had won five straight, four of which were on the road.  Oddly enough they haven’t played a home match since November 11th, when the winning streak began.

The faced the Royals at the end of October and the teams split the weekend, both winning in four sets.

The Royals were able to shake off any holiday rust last weekend when they swept the COTR Avalanche to open the second semester.  They dropped one set during the weekend doubleheader and were seemingly in control the entire match.

This should be a great weekend with first place on the line with only two points separating these two teams in the standings.

They will meet again on Saturday at 1:00pm | WATCH HERE

Camosun Chargers @ COTR Avalanche – Friday January 19, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE

The Chargers will try and push through this latest BC snowstorm and make their way to Cranbrook to face the Avalanche this weekend in back-to-back matches.

For the Chargers, they are playing their matches of the second semester after receiving a bye last weekend.  They haven’t seen live PACWEST action since November 25th and entered the holiday break winning four in a row.

This will be the second meeting of the season with the Avalanche after they hosted them during the first weekend of the season October 21-22 with each team winning once.

The Avalanche are back at home after losing in two straight matches last weekend at Douglas.  They have now dropped six straight dating back to the first semester and will need to turn things around quickly if they want to finish in the top four and qualify for the PACWEST championship at the end of February.  They are currently on the outside looking in, eight points back of the final playoff spot.

These two schools will play again on Saturday at 1:00pm | WATCH HERE
