Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball got back on track this weekend after a successful road trip to Thunder Bay.
The Lakers picked up a pair of wins, defeating the Lakehead Thunderwolves 3-1 Friday night and 3-0 Saturday night to grab their fourth and fifth wins of the season.
To begin the weekend, the Lakers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, winning the first set 25-15 and earning a second convincing win, 25-20.
Lakehead stayed alive with a 25-23 win in the third set, but the Lakers made sure they grabbed a win, dominating the fourth set, 25-12, to earn the victory.
Oceane Raymond-Leduc led the attack with 14 kills, while Paige Owen had 11 in the victory.
Amy Connelly chipped in with nine, as well.
In the second match of the weekend, the Lakers didn’t waste anytime taking care of business.
They earned three straight wins – 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21 – to walk away with a successful weekend.
Owen had a big match for the Lakers, posting 16 kills, while Raymond-Leduc added eight in the victory.
Nipissing will remain on the road and face TMU in Toronto next weekend for a pair of matches.
