Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team had an up and down weekend, but managed to come away with a weekend split.
After falling in five sets Friday night on the road against the Toronto Varsity Blues, the Lakers fought back on Saturday to come away with a 3-1 win to earn their third victory of the young season.
On Friday, the Lakers won the first set 25-15, before falling 25-21 in the second set.
They took the third set 25-20, but fell 25-15 and 15-11 in the fifth, dropping the match.
Paige Owen led the Lakers with 17 kills, while Oceane Raymond-Leduc added 14 in the contest.
Saturday night, the Lakers started slow, falling 25-13 in the first set.
From there, however, they controlled the match, winning 25-21, 25-20 and 25-23 to claim the match in four set.
Raymond-Leduc and Owen both had 13 kills for the #Lakers, leading the way offensively.
The Lakers remain on the road next weekend, heading to London to take on the Western Mustangs for a pair of matches on Friday and Saturday.
