Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team ran into one of the hottest teams in the OUA this past weekend on the road.
The Lakers dropped a pair of matches in Kingston, losing 3-0 Friday and 3-1 Saturday to the nationally ranked Queen’s Gaels.
On Friday, Nipissing fell in straight sets, 25-15, 25-20 and 25-16 to begin the two match set against the Gaels.
Paige Owen led the Lakers offence with nine kills, while Kristine Ledger and Madison Murphy each added five in the match.
Saturday to close out the weekend, the Lakers hung around, but weren’t able to pull off the upset.
After dropping the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-14, the Lakers showed some grit, winning the third set 25-18 to extend the match.
Queen’s wrapped things up in the fourth, winning 25-14 to claim the win and weekend sweep.
Owen once again led the Lakers offence with 13 kills, while Oceane Raymond added eight in the match
Nipissing returns home to take on the Windsor Lancers for a pair of matches next weekend.
