Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Battling injuries and one of the top teams in the OUA, the Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team had their work cut out for them this past weekend.
Despite the results, the Lakers stayed competitive and battle, although they came up short in both matches, losing 3-0 Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
In the opening match, the Lakers fought the whole way, losing 26-24, 25-23 and 26-24, putting in up a valiant fight.
Leading the Lakers offensively was Oceane Raymond, posting 16 kills and 17.5 points, while Kristine Ledger added eight kills and 11 points in the contest.
On the second day, the Lakers stuck around, but couldn’t match the Warriors firepower.
Waterloo took the match 25-19, 25-18 and 25-17 to pick up the weekend sweep.
Raymond once again led the Lakers with 11 kills and Shaelyn Francis added seven in the final contest of the first half of the season.
Nipissing begins the 2023 portion of the season with a pair of matches against the nationally ranked Brock Badgers on the road.
