Queen’s Women’s Volleyball maintained their win streak taking a 3-set win — their fifth of the regular season — over the York Lion’s on Saturday evening (20-25, 25-15, 28-26).
Attack errors from the Lions brought the Gaels to an early lead in the first set. Queen’s added kills from all over the court and extended their lead, taking the set.
Queen’s closed out the match with 43 kills to the Lion’s 24; a nod to their aggressive presence at the net.
Through the beginning of the second, the Gaels and Lions went point for point, until the tides changed, and the Gaels pulled ahead. They maintained a dominant presence at the net and took the set.
Queen’s capitalized on their momentum and pulled ahead early in the third, however the Lions refused to go down without a fight and came back from a seven point deficit, tying the set up at 23.
Forced into extra points, the Gaels rallied together and bagged the set 28-26 and the win.
“Our team really knows how to stay gritty to the end and push until the game is over and that’s what we did here tonight.” Carter remarked.
With the win, Queen’s Women’s Volleyball’s record on the season improves to 9-1.
The Gaels return to the ARC on Friday, Nov. 29 to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues at 6pm. Tickets are available on the Queen’s ticket website
