KAMLOOPS – Head coach Pat Hennelly and the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men’s volleyball team have added another important piece to their 2024-25 puzzle with the announcement that Britain Ward will join the ‘Pack.
“Britain has great size and athleticism and moves very well for a big man,” said Hennelly. “I like Britain’s offensive potential; he has a naturally high contact point and good vision. Britain has the size and tools to be an impact middle for our program and I am excited to see what he can do once he gets in our gym.”
From Calgary, Ward plays for both the Canada West Volleyball Club and West Island College and stands at 6’8″.
“I chose to come to TRU after meeting the coaching staff and seeing the school’s facilities, the beautiful campus and the team’s energy made me interested in joining the team,” said Ward. “I originally heard about TRU when Coach Pat approached my club coaches about me, I became really interested in the team since then and have been excited by the opportunity they have given me.”
Ward plays for WolfPack alum Colin Jaggard with Canada West Volleyball Club and that familiarity proved key in him committing to TRU.
“I was contacted by an alumni about Britain and after watching Britain play and speaking with his club coach Ian Mcintyre, I was convinced Britain was a player we wanted,” said Hennelly. “We brought Britain in for a visit and are thankful he chose TRU and WolfPack Volleyball.”
Starting the sport at a young age, Ward initially took up volleyball at the behest of his mom before falling in love with the game. Alongside his indoor volleyball experience, Ward plays for Team Alberta in beach volleyball and has competed at the Canadian National Championship.
Consistently an honour roll student throughout his high school career, Ward describes himself as a hard-working player that will bring good energy to the team.
Ward joins four previously announced recruits for the ‘Pack and will suit up for TRU alongside: Brandon Johnson, Alex Howard, Keenan Brulotte and Parker Bailey.
