OTTAWA GAME NOTES

  • Major stat leaders
  • Coming off a weekend with only one match played Friday night at McGill, the Gee-Gees have had a long week to prepare for a rematch with the Montreal Carabins on Friday. Ottawa lost their season opener at CEPSUM in the fifth set, and now will look to take another shot at Les Blues, this time at home.
  • Ottawa is looking for a chance to turn the corner early in the season, the team ranks third in the conference in kills with 10.93 per set and leads the conference in service aces with 31. If the team shore up on the defensive end and find more even consistency, they have the chance to rise in the standings throughout the first part of the season.

MONTREAL GAME NOTES

  • Major stat leaders
    • Kills: Olympe Desmedt – 50
    • Digs: Brittany McGlashan – 89
    • Assists: Sarah McGlashan – 164
    • Blocks: Milica Djordjevic – 15
  • 2023 First Team All-Star Olympe Desmedt has proven to once again be a force for the Carabins. She currently leads the conference in kills per set, with 4.55.
  • As a team, the Carabins will be trying to bounce back from a two-loss weekend at home. With a 3-0 loss to first-place Sherbrooke and a 3-2 loss to McGill.

MCGILL GAME NOTES

  • Major stat leaders
    • Kills: Clara Poire – 55
    • Digs: Charlene Robitaille – 51
    • Assists: Audrey Trottier – 95
    • Blocks: Brook Brown – 18 
  • McGill’s Brook Brown is tied for second in the RSEQ in blocks, proving to be a very strong asset at the net for the Martlets.
  • The Martlets are a strong defensive team, holding the second lowest opponent hitting percentage in the conference at .134.
