The PACWEST names the best of the best from Week 7 of the regular season with the volleyball Athletes of the Week.
Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Kiana Wiebe – CBC Bearcats
Second year middle blocker, Kiana Wiebe, was an absolute force for the Bearcats this past weekend. On Friday, in a reverse-sweep five-set win against the Capilano Blues, she had four blocks, an ace and 12 kills, attacking at 40%. Then on Saturday, she finished the match with 19 points, including 15 kills, had another ace and three blocks, all while attacking at 39% in a big four-set win. In total on the weekend, Kiana scored 36 points, attacked at 39%, and helped lead the Bearcats to a pair huge wins on home court, over a nationally ranked team.
Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Diego Policarpo – COTR Avalanche
Diego has consistently performed at a high level this season and continued his strong play with two spectacular performances on the road as the Avs split two matches with the Douglas Royals. He totaled 38 kills, six blocks, 14 digs and was statistically the best serve receiver over the two matches as the Avalanche maintained a hold on first place in the PACWEST. On Friday he tied a career high with four blocks and led the Avs with 15 kills in a four-set win. Then on Saturday, he was truly dominant with 23 kills, nine digs and two more blocks, hitting at an impressive 47% efficiency.
