Volleyball Coaches Honoured at the 2021 Sport Manitoba Coaching Awards

Sport Manitoba announced the recipients of the 2021 Coaching Awards virtually on April 6th, with a pair of female volleyball coaches being recognized for their achievements.

Lindsay Enns was selected as the Vince Leah Memorial Award – Fundamentals recipient as a multi-sport coach. Lindsay has most recently been involved with the Sharks 13U Girls team. Lindsay leads with integrity and is known to always treat athletes, opponents, and officials with respect. She believes that sport is a vehicle for teaching valuable life skills and coaches for the betterment of the athletes. Lindsay is a promoter of multi-sport athletes and highly encourages this among her players. When the community club asks for volunteers, or when the local school does not have any coaches, they can rely on Lindsay. As a woman who balances her professional and family life, Lindsay never fails to volunteer to serve her community.

Jayme Menzies was selected as both the Peter Williamson Memorial Award – Train to Compete/Train to Win and the MASRC Indigenous Female Coach of the Decade. Jayme Menzies has been involved in the sport of volleyball for 23 years and has been coaching for eighteen of those years. As a proud Metis woman, Jayme excels at leveraging sport as a vehicle for social change. She has represented Manitoba multiple times as a coach, most recently in 2017 at the North American Indigenous Games and Canada Summer Games where both teams brought home gold. Off the court, Jayme is a certified facilitator for the NCCP Aboriginal Coaching Module and has trained over 50 coaches in 9 community courses this past year. In the 2019-2020 season, she took on several new challenges as a coach. She accepted the position to be the Head Coach of the U19 female team for 2020 NAIG and she decided to expand her Agoojin Volleyball Club to two teams. Jayme is extremely committed to developing athletes in an inclusive environment that empowers individuals and sets precedent in coaching Indigenous athletes. Her relentless dedication to using sport as a vehicle for social change and a means to live a holistic lifestyle has created immense positive changes for coaches and athletes in Manitoba.
