Kladno, CZ – VK Kladno has signed outside hitter Jacob van Geel to a professional contract.
van Geel comes to Kladno from Mount Royal University, where he posted 220.5 points from 184 kills and a .309 hitting percentage. van Geel missed six games in the regular season due to injury, but his return made a huge impact on the Cougars men’s volleyball team. This year, van Geel missed five games due to injury, but his return made a huge impact on the Cougar’s men’s volleyball team.
In his four seasons with the Cougars, he had 244 sets played, 633 kills,257 digs, and a remarkable 736.5 points. In the 2022-23 season, van Geel was named a Canada West Second-Team All-Star.
“This is an awesome opportunity for Jacob, especially with Henry Rempel from TWU also signing there,” said Cougars men’s volleyball head coach, Shawn Sky. “Jacob works hard at everything he does, and he’s come so far. He’s always been a gym rat and still is – it’s what makes him who he is. His work ethic is exceptional, and I have no doubt it will translate to his pro career.”
The Eagles are a professional volleyball club in Kladno, a city in the Central Bohemian region of the Czech Republic.
van Geel has also earned a spot on the Canadian National Beach Volleyball Team this summer and has been training in Toronto since May.
VK Kladno is a Czech professional volleyball club that plays in the Extraliga.
