Hello parents, athletes & coaches.
Thank you as always for your support in our Junior programming and patience during this still uncertain time.
As expected, many prospective attendees and sponsors have reached out for clarity on the situation regarding our AVP Junior Nationals in Hermosa Beach, California, that was set to take place July 5-11. Below is a summary of recent discussions and our game plan on how we plan to navigate the circumstances going forward.
After multiple meetings with both the City of Hermosa Beach and LA County representatives, there are still more questions than answers at this time, however, one sentiment continues to be very evident: the expectation is that as of June 15, many of the previous restrictions will be lifted. Unfortunately, right now there are still travel restrictions for those participants coming from out of state and it remains to be seen if that specific stipulation will be removed prior to July.
Therefore, due to the fact that our programming is intended to serve all states and members across the country, it is best at this time that we move our “Nationals” title event to Atlantic City to be in conjunction with our annual Beach Week festivities, July 20-25. We are very excited to offer 5 days of competition for our junior athletes during this week, including supplemental clinic and awards banquet opportunities.
Check out the Official BEACH WEEK page for more info!
We still intend to run a major Junior event during our early July dates in Hermosa, pending approvals, but initial registration will only be available to those that can comply with the state regulations. As previously stated, this may change mid-June when new guidelines are released, but we can’t guarantee anything at this time. Once we receive the final go-ahead from Hermosa Beach for this new event (AVP Junior California Championships), we will post information on the AVP.com Special Events page.
Again, we sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this process. We strive to be as prepared and organized as possible in order to relay information to our members in a timely manner. A special thank you to the City of Hermosa Beach and the LA County offices for their help and guidance during this unprecedented process.
Can’t wait to see you all in the coming months!
If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out to us at AVPAmerica@avp.com.
