For the first time in the 2024-25 season, the Brock Badgers have two teams concurrently in the U SPORTS national rankings.
Women’s Basketball (7-1) – No. 9 Last Week: No. 9 Highest Ranking: No. 9 (Nov. 25) Week in U SPORTS Top 10: 2 (Nov. 18, Nov. 25)
The Badgers picked up two victories this past week to improve their regular season record to 7-1.
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, Brock took down the Laurier Golden Hawks by a score of 50-44. Madalyn Weinert led all players with 14 points and finished one rebound shy of a double-double with nine. The Badgers were strong on the glass and defensively, finishing with 45 rebounds and 12 steals compared to just 33 rebounds and six steals from the Golden Hawks.
Heading to Sault Ste. Marie, the Badgers took care of business with an emphatic 71-44 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds on Sunday, Nov. 24. Angeline Campbell was the top scorer in the contest with 18 points and was deadly from beyond the arc as she earned more than half her points from the three-point line. Weinert notched 16 points against the Thunderbirds and has scored in double digits in each contest this season.
Up next, the Badgers will head on the road for matchups with the Western Mustangs on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. against the Windsor Lancers.
Olivia Fiorucci and the Brock Badgers women’s basketball team are ranked for the second time this season.
Women’s Volleyball (6-2) – No. 9 Last Week: Not Ranked Highest Ranking: No. 9 (Nov. 25) Week in U SPORTS Top 10: Three (Oct. 28, Nov. 4, Nov. 25)
After a two-week hiatus, the Badgers women’s volleyball team has made its way back into the national rankings.
Brock defeated the then No. 10 ranked McMaster Marauders twice for a home weekend sweep.
The first night on Friday, Nov. 22, the Badgers defeated the Marauders in four sets (25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 25-20). Laurin Ainsworth finished with a game-high 16.5 points off 14 kills, two service aces and 0.5 blocks. Not far behind was Emily Foest who had 15.5 points of her own off 12 kills, two aces and 1.5 blocks.
Foest then led the Badgers to a sweep (25-23, 25-20, 25-21) of the Marauders in the rematch on Saturday, Nov. 23. The fourth-year outside hitter delivered 18 points off 17 kills and one block as the Badgers earned their sixth win of the regular season and third victory over a ranked opponent.
Looking ahead, the Badgers will travel to Ottawa for two matches against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 30 at 4 p.m.
