TORONTO, Ontario – Henry Rempel (Swift Current, Sask.) is the U SPORTS men’s volleyball player of the week following two solid performances in the Canada West quarterfinals against the Brandon Bobcats. The Trinity Western Spartans swept the Bobcats in two games, winning six out of seven sets to advance to the semifinals. Rempel shined with 11 kills, six digs, and two assisted blocks on Thursday, before tying the record for most kills in a 4-set Canada West playoff match with 27 on Friday. The fourth-year outside hitter also added six digs and one ace to his TWU record-breaking performance.
This is Rempel’s second U SPORTS men’s volleyball athlete of the week award this year. He previously won on February 7.
The Trinity Western Spartans will be back in action in the Canada West Semifinals as they will host the Winnipeg Wesmen for a best-of-three series starting on Thursday, February 29th. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will also take place in Langley Events Centre, B.C., on March 1st and 2nd. All the matches are streamed live on Canada West TV.
The winner of the series will advance to the Canada West gold medal match and have an automatic berth at the U SPORTS championship.
