The Moncton Aigles Bleues won the first two sets, but the Dalhousie University Tigers came from behind to win 3-2 (19-25, 21-25, 27-25, 25-17, 15-12) in Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball on Sunday at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gymnasium.
Moncton go out to an early 2-0 in the game and pushed the Tigers to a 27-25 win in the third set.
The Tigers roared back in the fourth set thanks to kills from Ella Hornby and Talia Vydykhan. Dalhousie would win the set 25-17 to tie the game at 2 sets each.
It was once again Vydykhan who put in the work in the fifth set, finding the floor several times. It was a Vydykhan kill that ended the game and gave the Tigers a 15-12 win.
Vvdykhan led the Tigers offensively with 15 kills and Hornby added 12 more. Alessandra Nadalini directed the defence with 28 digs and Vvdykhan had 27. Kiana Sivret had 14 kills for the Aigles Bleues and Sophie Hédou and Sara Chiasson, 8 each. Chiasson added 24 digs and Emily Robichaud, 25.
The Aigles Bleues will be in Wolfville on Friday and Saturday to take on the Acadia Axewomen. The Tigers will host the UNB REDS On Friday at 6pm in Halifax.
