LANGLEY, B.C. – It is one of the busiest weeks of the year for this Week in Sparta as 10 Spartan teams are competing. The women’s soccer team will continue Canada West conference play with their final conference matches of the season at home for senior weekend. Men’s and women’s hockey will continue their Canada West season. Men’s rugby is home for Coastal Cup action. Men’s and women’s volleyball continue preseason play with the women at home and the men on the road. Men’s and women’s basketball will get preseason rolling with road tournaments. While the cross country teams are at the BC Championships.

  • TWU enters this weekend ranked No. 4 in U SPORTS
  • The Spartans are currently second in the Pacific division at 8-1-3 (.792).
  • The Mount Royal Cougars are sixth in the Pacific division at 4-5-3 (.458).

  • The shutout gives Miller 29.5 career Canada West shutouts, which is sixth in Canada West. She trails TWU Funk, who has 30 career shutouts, for the Spartan record. Former Spartan Ally Willamson (’16) holds the Canada West record with 34.5 shutouts. Williamson split her time between UBC and TWU.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 13 sports in the Canada West conference, including women’s and men’s soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cross country and track & field, as well as women’s rugby sevens. TWU also competes as an independent team in men’s rugby, as well as women’s and men’s disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 13 U SPORTS team championships and 32 Canada West team championships.
