The Western Mustangs Fall 3-1 To The Windsor Lancers

The Western Mustangs take on the Windsor Lancers today at 6:00pm on the road. Despite winning some fantastic points, the Mustangs fell to the Lancers 3-1. 
 
The Western Mustangs take the opening point of the set, but Windsor equalize and push ahead. Lael Harrison sends a ball into the Windsor block where it goes out of bounds, giving the point to Western which puts the Mustangs one point behind the Lancers. As the teams approach the middle of the set, a block from Ava Ebert puts the Mustangs one point behind the Lancers again with a score of 13-12. The Mustangs call for timeouts as the Lancers push ahead in the points. Coming out of the timeout, the Mustangs go on to win four consecutive points, putting the Mustangs within two points of Windsor and forcing the Lancers to call for a timeout. Despite the Mustangs making good process in the second half of the first set, The Windsor Lancers take the opening set with a score of 25-19. 
 
Western take the opening point of the second set after the Windsor block sends the ball out of bounds. The Mustangs go on to push ahead in the points after a free ball is sent over the net by Windsor. Robin Henshaw sends the ball into the middle of the court, putting the Mustangs two ahead in the points. The Lancers equalize with the Mustangs at 5-5 and go on to push ahead in the points. A timeout is called when the score reaches 13-10. A service error from the Lancers puts the ball back in Western’s hands. Lael Harrison gets three service aces in a row to equalize the score at 15-15. The teams trade points and a one-point lead by Windsor is quickly eliminated by Claire Stewart as she gets a service ace as the ball just gets over the net to catch the Lancers off guard. The Lancers get within two points of the set win, causing a timeout called by Western. Coming out of the timeout, Windsor win the point which puts them within one point of the set win. A Lancer block secures the win for Windsor in the second set with a final score of 25-21. 
 
Windsor win the opening point of the third set. A block from Devin Gerth equalizes the score at 3-3 with a block. A further service ace puts the Mustangs one ahead a few points later. Lael Harrison sends a ball into the Lancer block where it goes off their hands, putting Western two points ahead. A timeout is called by Windsor when the Mustangs push three points ahead. Western win the first point coming out of the timeout. After Western push six points ahead, the Lancers call for another timeout. The Lancers come back within five after a long serve by the Mustangs coming out of the timeout. An attacking error from the Lancers puts the Mustangs six points ahead. After a ball is set by Thea Ishida, Claire Stewart puts the Mustangs six points away from the set win. A service ace from Jade Longlad wins the third set for the Mustangs with a score of 25-15. 
 
The Western Mustangs take the opening point of the fourth set after a block is sent out of bounds by the Lancers. The Mustangs push to a three-point lead early in the fourth set. However, the teams equalize soon after. A block from Thea Ishida puts the Mustangs in the lead again. After working to equalize the score, the Lancers push ahead in the points. The Mustangs maintain the pressure on the Lancers. A kill from Claire Stewart puts the Mustangs one point behind. An attacking error from the Lancers goes long, equalizing the score for the Mustangs at 13-13. One Windsor push three points ahead, Western calls for another time out. A service ace from Aryn Markett brings the Lancers within seven of the set win. The Mustangs gain some momentum coming into this latter half of the first set, coming back within one point as a block from Ava Ebert puts pressure on the Lancers. One point later, a kill from Ebert forces the Lancers into a timeout as the score sits at 19-19. A kill from Devin Gerth sees the Mustangs ahead again in the points, causing the Lancers to call for a timeout. The score sits at 23-21. The Lancers push the game into extra points as they equalize at 24-24. The teams equalize again at 25. An attacking error from Western puts the final score for the game at 27-25 to the Lancers.
