COTR Avalanche @ Douglas Royals – Friday January 12, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
The top ranked team in the country are back on the floor this weekend when the Avalanche visit the Royals on Friday and Saturday.
Like the Royals, the Avalanche haven’t played since November 26th. They entered the holiday break winners of nine straight. During the first semester they played in six matches that needed a fifth and deciding set and won five of them. They are battle tested but now it’s a sprint to the playoffs. This is their only road matches of the month as they face a Royals team that forced them to five sets in both meetings on November 3 and 4th but still came away with the victory.
The Royals fell on difficult times in the month of November heading into the holiday break. They lost five of their six matches and three straight before the break. They currently sit in fourth place, which is the final playoff spot, but they still have plenty to prove as they look to climb in the standings.
Capilano Blues @ CBC Bearcats – Friday January 12, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
This weekend is an important match-up for both schools as the Blues and Bearcats open the second semester of play. Four points separates these two who need to collect some wins to move up the standings trying to get back into the playoff conversation.
The Bearcats lost six in a row heading into the holiday break and find themselves sitting in fifth place in the standings, two points back of the final playoff spot. Their last win came on October 28th at Capilano so they will be looking to right the ship beginning this weekend at home. Their January is very light with only four matches and plenty of rest ahead of a very busy February with a final push to a playoff berth.
The Blues on the other hand struggled in the first semester recording only one win with the majority of their matches played at home. This second semester they will find themselves on the road more often then not with just one weekend scheduled on their home floor. If they have any hope of climbing to a playoff spot, they will have to grind it out on the road.
