SPARTANS SWEEP MOUNT ROYAL IN BLUE TEAM CUP

Published on

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western improved to 2-0 in the Blue Team with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 31-29) win over Mount Royal Friday at the Langley Events Centre.

With victories over UBC and MRU, the Spartans will look to capture the tournament title with a win over UBC Okanagan on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the LEC.

QUOTABLE
Adam Schriemer, TWU Head Coach
“It was an interesting game. I think (MRU coach) Shawn Sky and I would both agree that we really didn’t play clean volleyball. I thought for the first two sets, we were really trying to find rhythm – fighting for different ways to execute and play better and we were close. But the third set was really frustrating with our lack of quality in every phase and our inability to execute. The nice part is we were able to find a way to steal a third-set win. I thought Willem Van Huizen (Langley, B.C.) was a game-changer. His ability to come off the bench and serve five straight to get us to match point was awesome and it was the highlight of the game. We’re happy to see a rookie come off the bench and have that kind of impact.”
