LANGLEY, British Columbia– Three Spartans have been named Canada West All-Stars after Trinity Western’s 16-8, third-place, regular season. TWU’s selections are headlined by fourth-year outside Henry Rempel (Swift Current, Sask.) and second-year setter Anselm Rein (Erfurt, Germany).
Rempel finished the season leading Canada West in kills-per-set (4.23), second in total kills (398), and fifth in aces-per-set (0.41). Rein was the top setter in the conference, leading Canada West in assists-per-set (10.29), and was also the leader in service aces-per-set (0.59).
Alongside Rempel and Rein is first-year outside Piers de Greeff (Victoria, B.C.) who was named to the all-rookie team. De Greeff led all Canada West rookies in kills-per-set (2.33), which was third on the Spartans. He was also third on the Spartans in total digs (115).
The Spartans will be continuing their postseason run in a best-of-three Canada West semifinal series against the Winnipeg Wesmen starting this Thursday at 8 p.m. (PT) at the Langley Events Centre. The top three teams in Canada West will advance to the U SPORTS championship at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. March 15-17.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 13 sports in the Canada West conference, including women’s and men’s soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cross country, and track & field, as well as women’s rugby sevens.
