LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western’s women’s volleyball team opened the Volleyball Showcase with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-13) win over Alberta Friday at the Langley Events Centre. The game was a rematch of last year’s Canada West championship, which the Spartans won.
The Spartans, who enter the year as the defending national and conference champions, improved to 7-1 in the preseason. TWU is 5-0 at home in the preseason, after winning also all four of its matches in the West Coast Classic.
TWU will now prepare to play Waterloo on Saturday (2:30 p.m. PT) and Queen’s on Sunday (3 p.m. PT).
NOTABLE
· TWU has won seven of its last eight meetings with Alberta. The only loss over the last three years against the Pandas was a five-set defeat in Week 2 of the 2022 Canada West Playoffs.
