SPARTAN MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK I HENRY REMPEL

Published on

LANGLEY, B.C. – Henry Rempel (Swift Current, Sask.) is this week’s Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after a heavy-hitting weekend against the UBC Okanagan Heat.

The Spartans split their final series of the Canada West regular season, taking their first loss on Friday before Rempel posted an outstanding performance on the weekend’s road trip.

With only one regular starter playing in Friday’s match against UBCO, Rempel led the Spartans with a tally of 12 kills across the three sets played. The second-year’s efforts were enough for a game-high across both sides.

After taking their first loss of the season on Friday, the No. 1 ranked Spartans rallied back with an excited win over the Heat in the fifth set of Saturday’s match. Rempel was dominant in the performance, throwing down another game-high in kills with 17 total. The heavy-hitting second-year also put down a game-high of five service aces while mixing in six block assists across all five sets in the victory.

Ending their season at an emphatic conference-best 15-1, the Spartans hold the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Canada West playoffs heading into the weekend.
