Siksna, Duncanson competed with Canada at U23 Bicentennial Independence Cup

KINGSTON, Ont. (June 24, 2022) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball players Erik Siksna and Cole Duncanson competed with Team Canada at the U23 Bicentennial Independence Cup.

Team Canada played against Argentina and Brazil in the event, which was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After going 2-1, Canada fell to Brazil in the final.

Siksna (Markham, Ont.) is coming off a season where he was named a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian and the OUA East Division Most Valuable Player. Siksna was also named a First Team OUA East Division All-Star and U SPORTS Top 8 Academic All-Canadian. He led the Gaels with 135.0 points and 108 kills (3.09 per set) this season. The Outside was also second on Queen’s and fourth in the OUA with 15 service aces, and second on the team with 49 digs. Siksna also had 17 blocks in the regular season this year.

Duncanson (St. Catharines, Ont.) was named a Second Team OUA East Division All-Star and an OUA East Division All-Rookie last season. Duncanson finished the 2021-22 season fourth on the Gaels with 73.0 points and 51 kills. The Middle also had 28 blocks, 11 digs, and four service aces for Queen’s this season.

Both Siksna and Duncanson were part of Team Canada’s program at the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship last summer.
