Saint Mary’s advances to consolation final with win over Montréal

(Hamilton, Ont.) – Second-year left side, Emilia Mikanovich was dominant at the net finishing with 15 kills in the Saint Mary’s Huskies 3-1victory over the Montréal Carabins(27-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23) in the first consolation semifinal of the 2024 U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championship in Burridge Gymnasium.

Olivia Bell, the 2024 AUS Player of the Year and U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian, added 11 kills in the victory. Second-year setter Taylor Lougheed had 36 assists and five digs while Morgan Hoskins and Olivia Bell racked up a combined 28 digs for Saint Mary’s.

Montréal outside hitter Olympe Desmedt recorded 16 kills and 12 digs in the loss.

The win sends Saint Mary’s to the consolation final on Sunday at 2 pm ET where they will face the host McMaster Marauders. The loss ends the Carabins season,
