(ST. JOHN’S, NL) The UNB REDS suffered a straight-sets loss in the opener of a weekend series with the Memorial Sea-Hawks, Friday night, in St. John’s.
The home team won with scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-18.
Courtney Hodder (Main Point, NL) had a game-high 11 kills and Karen Greek (Mount Pearl, NL) had 29 assists to lead the Sea-Hawks.
Jenna Adams (Truro, NS) led the REDS with a game-high 11 digs while Lydia Green (Bedford, NS) struck eight kills.
A balanced Memorial attack and defense had consistent contributions from throughout their line-up.
With the loss, the REDS are now 3-and-6, and sit 5th in the Atlantic University Sport standings.
The Sea-Hawks improve to 5-and-4, good for 3rd place.
The teams meet again Saturday in the series finale. First serve is scheduled for 12:30pm Atlantic.
