(MONTREAL, QC) The UNB REDS fell 3-1 to the Université de Montreal Carabin in RSEQ men’s volleyball action, on Friday night.
The hometown Carabins won with scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-21.
The REDS used a 3-0 run midway through the first set and scored four of the last six points to take the opener 25-19.
The Carabins put together a 7-0 run in the second, on route to the 25-20 win to even the match.
The REDS led early in the third set, but couldn’t maintain their advantage.
Back to back service aces by Rafael Hilario pulled the REDS to within one, at 22-21, but Montreal scored the final three points for the 25-21 victory.
In the fourth, UNB trailed early, were able to draw even midway through, but could never find a lead, falling 25-21 and losing 3-1.
Hilario led with 16 kills and four dige, while Emil Pedersen and Nathan Marshall chipped in with four digs apiece. Petersen also registered nine kills.
For Montreal, Guillaume Bisson had 18 kills and Maxime St-Denis registered a whopping 50 assists.
The REDS and Carabin will wrap up their two-game weekend series on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 3:00pm Atlantic.
