Queen’s Women’s Volleyball opened the second half of their regular season in Toronto, Ont. Friday, dropping a five-set match (25-15, 23-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-17) to the host York Lions.
The Gaels opened the match with a convincing 25-15 win in the first set before the Lions took the next two. Queen’s forced a fifth and deciding set with a 25-20 win in the fourth set before falling in extra points in the fifth set.
Mary Stewart finished with a game-high 22 kills in the loss for the Gaels while Shea Baker led all players with 34 assists and Arielle Palermo had a game-high 22 digs. Stewart finished right behind Palermo with 21 digs.
After the tight loss, Queen’s record dropped to 5-4 on the season while York improved to 6-4 with the win. The two teams will close out their weekend doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. in Toronto. Catch all the action on OUA.tv.
