Queen’s Women’s Volleyball defeat Western 4-0 (25-22, 25-22, 15-25, 25-23) Saturday night in London, Ont. to close a doubleheader weekend.
Despite dropping the third set, the Gaels displayed an outstanding performance to reclaim their lead over the Mustangs in a thrilling contest.
Hannah Duchesneau (Sharon, Ont.) recorded 10 kills, 2 aces, and 4 blocks. Amanda Siksna (Markham, Ont.) also contributed to the team’s success with 8 kills, 6 blocks, and 8 digs.
Lauren Mellon (Oakville, Ont.) showcased her skills with 8 kills, 1 ace, and 4 blocks. Shea Baker (Vancouver B.C.) recorded 34 assists in the match.
With the win, the Gaels concluded the regular season with an 18-2 record, placing them on equal footing with Brock, the current leader in the OUA standings.
The 2024 U Sports Women’s Volleyball Championship is scheduled to be held March 15–17, 2024, in Hamilton, Ontario, to determine a national champion for the 2023–24 U Sports women’s volleyball season
