Queen’s Women’s Volleyball beats Nipissing in key OUA East matchup

KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 19, 2022) – Rachel Meilikhan led the game with 17 kills as Queen’s Women’s Volleyball defeated the Nipissing Lakers in straight sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-19) Saturday at the ARC.

With the win, a bounce back effort after losing their last contest to the Toronto Varsity Blues, the Gaels improved their record to 5-2. Queen’s is now tied for third in the OUA East with the Lakers, who fell to 5-2 with the loss.

Meilikhan (Toronto, Ont.) also recorded a block in the win.

Natalie Crews (Vancouver, B.C.) finished with a game-high four blocks and two aces for the Gaels in the win. Lauryn Colpitts (Fredericton, N.B.) led the way with 35 assists for Queen’s while Vivian Zanutel (Toronto, Ont.) finished with a game-high 11 digs.

The Gaels are back in action Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the ARC, taking on the Trent Excalibur. Queen’s defeated Trent (0-7) 25-18, 25-16, 25-11, last weekend in Peterborough, Ont. in their only previous meeting.
