KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 20, 2024) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball secures win over York in exciting match Saturday night at the ARC (25-23, 25-18, 25-23).

Despite York’s persistent efforts, the Gaels displayed unwavering determination, making comeback after comeback, captivating the crowd with their performance in straight sets.

Erik Siksna led the Gaels offensively with 17 kills, leading the team in scoring. Zig Licis and Reed Venning contributed seven kills each. On the service line, Siksna stood out with four aces, followed by Chris Zimmerman with two aces, and Izaak Zabjek with one ace.

In a post-game interview, Siksna highlighted the importance of resiliency and aggression in the match. “We showed a lot of resiliency tonight. Being aggressive from the service line really helped us chip away at some of those leads we got ourselves down by,” he said. “When we stay aggressive on our serves, good things happen,” Coach Gabe DeGroot added.

With the win, the men improved their record to 10-3 on the season. The Gaels are back in action, Friday Jan. 26 at 8:00 PM to take on the McMaster Marauders at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
