Queen’s Men’s Volleyball complete sweep of Western

KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 4, 2023) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball faced the Western Mustangs in their second game of a doubleheader and finished with a 3-1 win.

The first set was a closely played game between the teams, each taking the lead and then losing it throughout the set. With a close fight, Western came out on top and won the set with a score of 25-22.

After the set loss, Queen’s came back with impressive plays that put them ahead throughout the second set. After a hard-fought set, the Gaels won the set 25-21.

Feeding off the energy of their win, Queen’s continued to outplay Western in the third set. After great saves and huge kills, the Gaels won the third set 25-20.

After two losses, the Mustangs came back offensively, putting many points on the board during the fourth set. Queen’s came back equally as strong and won the final set with a close score of 25-23.

Erik Siksna lead the team offensively with 21 kills, and Lachlan McBride behind him with 15 kills. Chris Zimmerman showed out on the floor with 44 assists, and Shane Gabriel helped out with 10 digs.

With the win, the Gaels’ record rose to 10-6.

The Gaels are on the road next weekend, taking on the Brock Badgers in a doubleheader, Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11, in St. Catharines, Ont.
