Kamloops – A 3-1 victory over the MacEwan Griffins continued a perfect start to the preseason for a Thompson Rivers WolfPack men’s volleyball team that is now 4-0.
Playing MacEwan infront of a raucous Prince George crowd for the second time in as many nights, TRU sent over 800 pro-‘Pack fans home happy with the win.
A mixture of experience and youth was key for TRU.
Veteran Sam Flowerday was electric with 19 kills, three digs, three aces and a pair of stuff blocks. Excelling alongside Flowerday was rookie Aiden Goetz who came out swinging in the first start of his WolfPack career. The product of Winnipeg had nine kills, a pair of digs and a block.
Defensively it was another first-time starter that was clutch for TRU. While Mason Sodaro has seen plenty of reps as a serving specialist with the ‘Pack, he made his first career start as libera and passed 2.41 while racking up 10 digs.
Next up for TRU is the Dino Cup slated to take place from Thursday to Saturday in Calgary, AB.
