Effective Wednesday January 5, 2022, Ontario will be moving back to Step Two of its Roadmap to Reopen with modifications that take into account the province’s successful vaccination efforts. This means that all indoor sport and recreational facilities are closed for a period of at least 21 days based on the January 3, 2022 announcement by the Ontario Government.
Indoor sport is closed with limited exceptions and conditions until January 26, 2022 (such as athletes training for Olympics and Paralympics, select professional and elite amateur sport leagues who will operate via an approved framework from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and persons with disabilities for physical therapy). This closure of indoor sport affects all Club practices and OVA competitions and training.
Due to the measures put in place by the Ontario Government today, the following OVA events have been cancelled between January 5 to January 26, 2022:
- January 2022 TNS and 15U Challenge Cup events at the EY Centre – Ottawa
- All January 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23 indoor competitions regular season tournaments
- Volleyball Canada Jump Off testing at the EY Centre – Ottawa

At this point in time, the January 28 to 30, 2022 16U Challenge Cup events at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre have not been cancelled. The OVA will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will adapt to any new regulations that are announced by the Ontario government.
