After more than two months away from the court, the No. 4-ranked Brock women’s volleyball team returned to Ontario University Athletics (OUA) regular season play on Friday, Feb. 11.
The Badgers swept the Windsor Lancers on the road 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-12).
Outside hitter Madison Chimienti registered a game-high 11 kills, and middle Grace Pyatt posted 10 kills and led all players with five blocks.
“Being back on the road to competition is what we’ve been waiting for as a team over the past two months,” Pyatt said. “This team is one big family, and getting to be back together doing what we love is a gift.”
The Badgers’ chemistry was at full strength as they rallied to win the first set. Brock dictated the following two sets while hitting above .330, as they’ve now won 15 consecutive sets.
Aleiah Torres made 11 digs, and Sarah Rohr added 25 assists. Sadie Dick scored eight kills as Emily Foest recorded three aces.
“Our motto is ‘We before Me,’ and that’s the energy we are eagerly heading into the second half with,” added Pyatt, a Masters of Applied Gerontology student. “I came back for another degree for the opportunity to compete with this group of women. They remind me every day why that was the best decision I ever made.”
Next, the Badgers (6-0) return home to St. Catharines to host the Lancers (1-4) at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
