QUICKLY
- The University of Regina’s women’s volleyball team was defeated in three straight sets on Saturday night by the UBC Thunderbirds in Regina.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars opened up the match with their best performance of the weekend, going toe-to-toe with UBC until the Thunderbirds finally pulled away at the end for a 25-21 win in a set that featured nine tie scores and five lead changes.
- UBC came back with a convincing 25-12 win in the second set, then used a 7-1 run to get some space in a third set that they’d win by a 25-18 margin.
NOTES
- Claire Sheppard had an efficient game for the Cougars, collecting six kills while hitting .462 for the match.
- Kaylyn Brown and Jordy McEachern added five kills apiece, while McKenzie Keibel had a team-leading 11 digs.
- Akash Grewal, Trinity Solecki, and Brynn Pasin all hit double figures in kills for UBC with 12, 11, and 10, respectively.
NEXT UP
- The Cougars will now break for just over a month, with their next action scheduled for the Jan. 6/7 weekend at Thompson Rivers in Kamloops, B.C.
